Victor Franz Wienken, 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, following an illness of several months.

Victor was born on April 23, 1920, in Yorktown, Texas, to Otto Gerhardt and Lydia Belitz Wienken.  He was the second of six children and grew up on a farm near San Diego, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Erwin of Meyersville, Texas, and two sisters, Ophelia Skoruppa of Ingeleside and Nora Fink of Corpus Christi.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty and son Victor Alan Wienken.  Also surviving are two sisters, Wanda Luce of Old San Patricio and Thelma Lewis of Enid, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews.

He was very proud to have served in the U.S. Army throughout World War II, seeing action in the European Theater.  He worked at CCAD until his retirement.

Victor greatly enjoyed being with family, playing “42” and scratching off Lotto tickets, and spending time at Lagarto on his favorite toy, his Ford 8N tractor.

The family would like to thank Dr. J. Robert Cone, MD, for many years of care, and the staff at Angel Bright Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors on Everhart, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
